Image manipulation
Many people have access to computers and have software that will enable them to retouch photos, but how many people are capable of using it properly? It is like buying a set of spanners - and then expecting to be able to service your car!
Here is an example of what can be done to repair old photographs. The original photograph had not been well treated. It was badly creased, and as you can see it even had parts missing. The images that you see here are optimised jpegs, 10% of their original size which were scanned in as a 600dpi tiff.

Here you see the end result. The image was eventually printed out and looked fabulous on A3 size paper.

Here you will see another image reduced down to 5% of its original size. This too was scanned in as a 600dpi tiff. This time as well as cleaning the photograph up, two people have been completely removed. This removal was made more difficult because of the regular corrugated background that had to be replicated.
